We will never go back to being the country we were until we can compromise and work together, which means actively seeking to breach the polarization that has infected us on every level. I don’t know enough about land taxation in Britain. But multi-millionaires and billionaires all buy houses there and shelter their money throught the London financial system.

We, Americans are more cut and dry about our laws, but the Brits indulge their very rich residents. For example, it is said Paul Getty was allowed to import and enjoy opium freely in London. He renounced his US citizenship and died in England a British citizen.

The great families of Britain make interesting reading. Grosvenor is like the Irvine Company of London, except with a much longer history.
