That is exactly right. I remember exacly the words my professor used (with a pretty thick Asian accent) “We have new information!” And that new information comes from the host who gets to make a decision based on what he sees and what we don’t.

I consider this problem more of a personality test than an IQ test. Very few people understand it intuitively, but people who are patient, who strive for the truth, who are humble enough to admit they were wrong, and have good instincts about who knows what the hell they are talking about can come around.
