Perhaps I’m being unrealistically optimistic, but I’d like to think we will ride this one out….just as Californians have survived past boom/bust cycles. I know there are mitigating factors here (price of oil, oil dependence, etc.) but I remain staunchly (and perhaps stupidly!) optimistic. Besides, my husband tells me that electric Mini Coopers will be on the market in about a year!
Speaking of cars, it was interesting to drive past a McD’s today (on my way to get some gas) and see about 17 SUVs and/or trucks waiting in the drive-thru lane, windows up, A/C on. Obviously, people aren’t in enough pain yet…wonder if that will happen when gas is $6/gallon??

How sweet! Does he/she have a name? I’m amazed that you are able to raise a wild bird. Whenever I’ve tried to rescue birds in the past they’ve never survived.
Thanks for the photo – it made me smile.
