TG I haven’t swallowed the Jordan Farmar koolaid yet. Lets see if he doesn’t disappear in May when it counts.
Alan as much as I agree that TC needed to be fired I think Rivera is not a bad selection. Yeah he did gag on the superbowl but he got them to the game and if I recall, his offense didn’t help him out to much. In fact they were downright pathetic and his d simply ran out of juice… The colts were strong that year as well.
Bottom line is as much as people like to think it, the chargers talent on D is woeful at best. I have harped on it over and over… Clinton Hart and Eric Weddle? Are you kidding me? No really…think about that tandem…Inside linebacker is a joke as Cooper has regressed seriously from last year. Dobbins has already taken over the other inside spot. Olshansky is gone next year. Castillo is fat and happy with a contract. Jamal can barely walk… Seriously they need to think about an entire draft spent on interior linemen.
Look at Hainsworth on the titans… That guy is pure monster.
TG don’t bite on that JF jersey yet man.

November 7, 2008 at 9:40 PM #301236Allan from FallbrookParticipantTG: I think it’s possible I am actually a Giants fan trapped in a Raiders fan’s body.
Or maybe a Titans fan…
I would’ve been willing to root for the Chargers, but WTF happened? Seriously. This was like a potential Super Bowl caliber unit that just disappeared. I don’t know what it is with the Chargers, but they have a propensity for this kind of thing. At least with the Raiders, you know right from the jump that the season is gonna blow and you just deal with it in true Raider Nation style: booze, drugs and the occasional armed roobery.

If I remember correctly, don’t the Bears run a 4 – 3 versus the Charger’s 3 – 4? I might be wrong, but I keep seeing Urlacher in the mike backer spot when I close my eyes. Lance Briggs is one of the OLBs and I can’t remember the other guy’s name. Having coached D (albeit at youth football, so let’s be clear about poor comparisons), I can tell that transitioning from one scheme to another can be a bitch. That being said, Cotrell was doing a horrible job and some of those calls late in the game (how in the hell did they NOT account for Eddie Royal during the Denver game???) were atrocious.
Somewhat akin to Wade Philips taking over the Dallas defense in the last couple of weeks after that debacle against the Rams.
As my old D coach used to say: Offense sells tickets, Defense wins championships.
