ParticipantIf history is any judge, Tesla will ultimately fail because some other company comes along, improves on their technology and displaces them. Then the same thing will happen to that company and so on. I forgot the number but I think there were over 50 car manufacturers at one point (maybe more). Car manufacturers, technology… it’s very tough picking long-term winners. I just hope the technology improves. I’m just glad there are lots of folks willing and able to lose all of their money on stuff like this while the rest of us reap the benefits over the long term.

ParticipantJust do some research on Tucker. History will repeat.
Mr. Musk, however is quite the interesting character. Reminds me of Howard Hughes.
I think I’ll pass.

ParticipantIt seems that the idea of a pure electric car is a step backwards, not forwards. I remember back in the late 90’s/early 2000’s a few companies tried to build electric cars (Saturn and Honda I believe) which eventually failed and gave way to hybrids. What exactly does Tesla think they can do differently to overcome the negative aspects of electric cars?
Also personally I think the Tesla roadster is ugly compared to it’s Lotus counterpart. No way I’d pay over 100k for one. Maybe I’d pay $20k at the most.
