That’s right SDR, the majority doesn’t pay their fair share. The majority is no longer paying income taxes.
More programs, more spending, more handouts, it’ll just keep coming because the majority pays NOTHING for them.
Contrary to whimsical opinions, it’s not the scums like the McCourts not paying their share of income taxes.
The whole thing needs a good scrapping, but it’s just going to be another tax, and if the backlash looks too big, then they’l scrap that and come up with a value added fee. Since taxes rile people up, but then again, fees have been abused enough that those are as bad as taxes.
Maybe they’ll take a page from the Teacher Unions in their promoting slogans like ‘just a penny’ on their propositions in many States for increasing the sales taxes by 1 cent…

April 21, 2010 at 8:29 PM #541790SD RealtorParticipantI know nsr… it really has reached ridculous levels. Property tax, income tax, payroll taxes state taxes, now a VAT as well. Taxes, fees….whatever…someday people will figure out that equations have two sides. For every entitlement given to somebody you are taking money out of someone elses pockets. Eventually you WILL run out of people to take from.
I read that if everyone in the US paid a flat 11% tax then we would bring in the same money as we currently do. Thing of that… just 11%… Of course everyone would have to pay and we cannot have that now could we?

April 21, 2010 at 9:10 PM #541810briansd1GuestA flat tax is regressive.
The sales tax is regressive.
I support a VAT to replace the sales taxes so that the consumption tax is spread out more evenly in the different stages of production.
I support a progressive income tax system of increasing rates up the income ladder. That’s fair in my mind.
