Did we have the same level of credit available back then.
Seems to me the big difference between today and the 1930’s is, please, eventhough broke, used cash for everything so the banks were able to use some of that to handle the slamming that took place. Now where do the banks and the feds go? No one has savings anymore. it’s all credit.
We’re SOL..

Has anyone here dealt with a bankrupt brokerage? How difficult/easy to get your assets back? How does it work? I am aware of the FDIC process, but how to move stock accounts?

November 12, 2007 at 10:26 AM #98673anParticipantbsrsharma, I am in the same situation minus the bank accounts part. Brokerage account is insured by SIPC, not FDIC, so I wonder how it work. If they declare bankruptcy, how easy is it to transfer the fund to a different brokerage company? Accounts I’m worried about is my IRA. Should I worry and move the money now? Seems like a possible “run of the bank”.
