How about you point me to a $27 an hour cash job, or even a $20 an hour job? I know about a dozen people who would be very interested. My wife is currently unemployed and she’s having trouble finding anything. Job openings in 10-15/hour range sometimes draw a hundred applicants per opening.
You really need to look at it from the national perspective. California DOES have a problem with excessive prison spending, because it’s #1 in the country by spending per prisoner, separately in healthcare and non-healthcare categories. California DOES NOT have a problem with excessive K-12 spending, because it’s something like #43 in the country per K-12 student.

Obviously the job market isn’t that great over the past two years. You can’t say that $20 an hour cash jobs were never available or won’t be in the future once the economy turns around. Look at it from a perspective of a normal market. It isn’t that hard. Bottom line, those three months can be used to make additional money which increases the yearly figure.

February 1, 2011 at 1:31 PM #660905no_such_realityParticipantThere is a search box on the upper right of the piggington pages. If you use it, you’ll see we’ve had discussions about the sad state of school affairs in 2007.
Again in 2008.
Again in 2009.
Again earlier last year in 2010.
And now, again in early 2011.
Meanwhile, 1/3rd students State wide don’t graduate.
Approximately only 57% of school spending is actually spent in the classroom. Down from last year. Down repeatedly.
32% aren’t graduating on time. The system is horribly broken.
