we need a second inner boundary too. and crowbars. we plan to bash the zombies’ heads in with crowbars.
The good thing about fighting zombies is their cumbersome nature and soft skin that you can easily penetrate. So crowbars, spears or any other ‘stick’ like instrument you can use to put them down. The head and heart are optimum targets. What you have to watch out for is their superhuman strength. If they grab ahold of you watch out.

this is so off target it’s not even funny. it’s this kind of thinking that separates the survivors from the future zombies. sit ona couch? YOU THINK THIS IS A GAME? that is pathetic. zombies are coming man, and if you don’t have a straegy, if you’re not rpepared, if you don’t have your bicycle in top working order and a good sized crowbar, and plenty of rations, and a way to secure your compound or the ammo to tkae a good compound, you are screwed. so please don’t give others the ipression that this is just some kind of “whim” or “fun” thing. this is real.

You’re talking defense in depth, now. Walls are a bit much. Barbed wire/concertina wire is excellent for this sort of thing, especially if you string it in conjunction with trip flares and booby traps.
Crowbars are also low tech, plus you have to get close enough to use them. That means getting within reach of the zombies (see Arraya’s warning above about the superhuman strength).
I’d rather sit back and pick ’em off the wire, personally. Sand bag yourself in, maintain good fields of fire, maybe pick up a good light (M249) or heavy (M2) machine gun, or five, and throw a good “rock and roll dance party” every night.
