I had a Realtor leave a business card on my door the other day. In the back he wrote “I have a buyer interested in buying you house, please call….”
I think that coming over unannounced is rude. I never receive unannounced visits.

The money that an agent actually takes home is far less then what most people think. It is 100% determined by what the broker will pay them. There are the heavy hitter agents that get a high percentage of the commission. The average realtor does not get that much. Again, each broker, or shall I say brokerage has their own policy. Yeah I would say your estimate is valid. Don’t think of it as the agent handing money to the broker though… Go the other way, the broker gets the money and hands a portion of it to the agent. If the agent is a heavy, the broker gives him a big cut, if the agent is a regular player they get less, and if the agent is a newbie they get less still.

I may have to try that lonestar! heheheheh.. j/k…I was cracking up at that statement though… hey you guys know how desperate us realtors get in dry markets… personally I am thinking of getting different animals and naming them spot a la Cal Worthington…Seriously though I think there was a Realtor in OC or somewhere that had a billboard and she was in a little bikini or something like that… I cannot recall the specifics…
Not sure if that worked for her or not.

The target audience was one of the 2,500+/- people in SD who went into escrow on a SFR or condo in the last 30 days. Or one of the 1,800+/- who actually closed escrow in the last 30 days.
There are a bunch of disgrunteled soccer moms and over analytical IT guys around here. Open your eyes and ears – and your mind. Don’t be so pissy because some people are making a decent and honest living doing something YOU despise.
The perception here is that many in R/E are making a killing while doing very little work.. For many this is true, and it must be what is urking most of you to no end as you clock in and out every day working for the man.
April 16, 2007 at 3:52 PM #50239CritterParticipantUrk? Disgrunteled? We’ll open our eyes and ears if you open a dictionary.
And what’s all this nonsense about working for the man? That is so 1970s.

I can understand being angry at high prices, but enjoying the attempts of people trying to make a living is cruel. All realtors are not evil. Your anger at the sign is an indication of a problem with your own situation. Being bitter will only make the wait for prices to come down seem longer. I think SDA’s comments were in-line with the mentality of this thread. The useful information was that the sign existed and a few observations. Most of your comments were whining about the sign, pleeeease stop.
April 16, 2007 at 4:54 PM #50248speakerParticipantugh…..now i know remember why i rarely post.
bob2007,
i am not bitter but i am being snarky. where in my thread did i say all realtors are evil? where in my thread did i even mention the realtor in question was evil? nowhere.
on the contrary, SDA’s comments were out of line because he chose to end his counter point by declaring me a bitter renter. this phrase has now become the new class prejudice and when someone chooses to use such language it is done so with the intent to belittle and denigrate.
the open house sign is a stupid gimmick. one would hope that their realtor would use measures more savvy than a sign that reads “Pleeeease” to draw attention to a home no matter what the price.
“Your anger at the sign is an indication of a problem with your own situation.”
ummm….yeah ok, whatever you say dr. phil.
“End of line.”
