I bought three pieces of wood from that place and it was around a grand in total.
They were big pieces, barn timbers, but still.
A whole floor? Wow.
August 18, 2017 at 9:17 AM #807671FlyerInHiGuestwow, that is so “luxury”, something you would put in a historic house.
August 18, 2017 at 9:21 AM #807672gzzParticipantI wonder what my old growth redwood possible teardown house is worth in scrap?
During renovation I saved every bit I removed. Termite and rot damage free unlike the wood used in later renovations. Lots of 4x4s that are actually 4″ not 3.5 like new ones. The roof has dozens of long 2x4s too.
August 18, 2017 at 12:50 PM #807681scaredyclassicParticipantnow i dont want to put any furniture on it, covers up my big money per square foot floor.
we need smaller beds too, so more floor is exposed.
wife disagrees.
August 18, 2017 at 1:37 PM #807683FlyerInHiGuestdid you hire an interior designer? avoid too much “heavy” wood furniture.
Actually the new restoration hardware look is much better than in years past. I’m guessing that’s the style of you house.

Pictures are on their site and ours http://www.sommerdesignrsf.com. We went for a lighter feel, but wanted the authenticity. Visitors enjoy hearing about the history of the beams.

Used wood at new prices.

August 22, 2017 at 9:56 AM #807715gzzParticipantScaredy stop being a tease, what was the price per sq foot installed?
August 22, 2017 at 10:37 AM #807720scaredyclassicParticipantabout $23
August 22, 2017 at 10:59 AM #807721FlyerInHiGuest
about $23
Not bad. I think most people spend 1/2 that on their wood; but you have luxury reclaimed wood. I’m sure you were told it will last forever. I think reclaimed wood wears nicely and looks great even with modern furniture. The new shiny wood shows all the scratches and don’t wear well.
I wanted smooth terrazzo floor but I had to compromise for tile because of cost.
August 22, 2017 at 12:08 PM #807722scaredyclassicParticipantthe throbbing pain of payment is starting to recede.
August 22, 2017 at 2:05 PM #807723FlyerInHiGuestHaha, I don’t mind spending money on real estate. Buying a car is the most painful for me.
