Looks like Casa Sol Y Mar in my hood is closing permanently too. Bummer.
We loved that place too. Fantastic quality food.
My wife says the chain has been struggling for awhile. She got one of her employees from their HQ when there was a massive layoff awhile back.
Gosh, in the old times I used to tell my kids to stuff themselves till they could barely stand it, so I could get my $ worth.they thought that was funny
Only in the last few years have I been having a modest salad and soup, and skipping coupons, and not urging others to stuff their faces.

Buffet style restaurants will be out at least for the next year or two due to COVID-19. In fact, many regular restaurants will be gone for good when this crisis is over. The profit margin of restaurants were slim to begin with and with the new social distancing rules many places have to adjust the seating to half or quarter capacity to meet the stricter requirements.
Sad for sure.
Our kids grew up with the Carmel Valley Souplantation, and we all continued going even after moving to RSF.
One of the original owners used to live in Del Mar, and stopped by CV all the time. Nicest guy.
From what we’ve read, sounds like they tried everything over the past several weeks to keep it alive, but, in the end, they didn’t think the health department would let them open with their current model.
On a bright note, we can now get back to the beach, boating and golf just in time for this beautiful weather.
Nothing lasts forever, so enjoy it while you can.
As I recall they went bankrupt a couple years ago and closed 90% of locations. San Diego locations were partly spared.
Mayhap because the quality sucked and people just went there to avoid paying for quality food?
