Something not right about this listing…

I just saw this random posting on craigslist:

This person expects someone to actually hand over a deposit before having anything in writing – and never having met the seller. Is this even legal? Something has to be very wrong with this. Any thoughts?

I just called the number listed on the posting. I talked with “Todd” who said he purchased it at an auction last month. It was at the convention center. He said he’s putting up another posting which will delete the “bidding” aspects of his posting. Strange.
