ParticipantYeah some of the neighbors will mentally take you down a notch in their pecking order games if you have a clothesline. They will assume you are a struggling bastard stepchild, while they lose their fancy cars and houses. Welcome to California.
I am already too physically active, so I won’t spend more time on my feet just to clip and take down laundry with a nearly new dryer in the room next to the other room that has the coffee pot. My wife has been great about using the clothes line…I just pitch in now and then. It’s just a strait line between two rusted old clunkers in the yard.

ParticipantWe dry all of our clothes in the backyard on a rack (purchased online–it’s hard to find good ones in stores). We have a relatively private backyard, and anyway who cares what the neighbors think. Better for our electric bill, for the environment, and for the clothes!
