AFX…- Try reading it again and try not being biased. Brian started it with his dear leader Bush bashing. Fair is fair. Brian cannot help injecting politics into the discussion of solar and as usual he is full of it. The increased cost of energy is germane to making the cost of a solar installation affordable.
Brian posted a link to an article on signonsandiego about California’s solar plan. faterikcartman followed with his ‘Dear Leader’ post. Brian followed with his Bush post.
I think you’re the one who needs to go back and work on some reading comprehension Zeit. The thread speaks for itself. I rest my case.

June 15, 2010 at 12:32 PM #565335ZeitgeistParticipantPIGGINGTON RETRACTION! Please accept my apology for blaming Brian for starting the dear leader thread.
AFX- You are right, I stand corrected. I did not read carefully enough. That’s what I get for having a public school education. However, you know what Brian did and why he did it. Brian has continued to throw foul petards since he started posting. He is politically incorrigible. I keep seeing one standard for Brian and his defenders and another for anyone who disagrees with them. I do not think he has an authentic interest in the topic. I think it was just another opportunity to get another Bush dig in. That makes you an accomplice to a political threadjack and a Brian enabler.June 15, 2010 at 12:32 PM #565431ZeitgeistParticipantPIGGINGTON RETRACTION! Brian, I don’t think you understand what is coming. Cap and Trade is coming. This will limit ALL production of C02 from ANY source — and believe me when I tell you C02 is produced in the production of electricity. Whether it is generated from natural gas or coal it is going to be regulated. This is going to result in an energy crises and your electricity use is going to be limited or rates for large usage profiles will be made punitive.
Thank you for clarifying.
I suppose your expectation of future electricity price increases is causing you to want to invest in solar — so that you can continue your current $400 to $600 electric usage unfettered, “off the grid”, without future utilities bills, and without contributing to CO2 emission.
If you believe that there will be an energy crisis and utility rates will be “punitive”, you should include that data in your cash flow analysis for payback calculation purposes.
The higher you believe that electricity rates will be in the future, the more solar installation makes sense today.
It’s good to know that solar is a good alternative to paying high electric bills.
