The marketplace of ideas is teeming with proposals following closely on the heels of the Six Californias initiative. Here are some of my favorites:

The inevitable solution to the @SixCalifornias proposition. Unify the Union and absorb California into the rest of the US. Remember, lim x→∞ for #CA/x is zero.

Specifically the Senate. Probably wouldn’t change the House representation *too* much.

It would basically hand the Democrats permanent control of the Senate, which is why it will never actually happen. It would also add more D than R electoral votes, but that’s a bit more marginal; an extra +6 blue EV is about the effect of New Hampshire.

It’s interesting that splitting the state is an effort led by Tim Draper, a Republican who thinks that more states would benefit Republicans.

I would love for Puerto Rico to join the Union as a new state.

If we’re gonna get silly like that, I suggest we name the new states Greg, Marcia, Peter, Jan, Bobby, and Cindy.
