Hi
I just turned 30, been married about 4 years and just found out this week that my wife is 12 weeks pregnant. Currently we live in a one bedroom place in the IE. I’m an engineer and my wife is a school teacher. Housing has always been a challenge for us ever since we got married. For the last 3 years we sat around and looked with doubt and envy as friends jumped into the housing market either with the help of $ parents or taking on huge mortages. Like many, I always felt that the RE market was way out of whack- but didn’t imagine it would be this crazy. It’s been especially hard on the wife- tough to place the “white picket fence” and “baby room” dream on hold. Needless to say we have definately considered moving out of the Golden State and have weighed the ramafications. It’s a tough decision and one that is really dependant on the person’s circumstances. As a tech person, Ca is a great place with many opportunities and options to choose from. It would be a lot more limiting in most other places. Plus we have close friends and family around here- making it even tougher. I think however, If I had been a pharmacist, teacher, or been in some form of service work we would have moved elsewhere. IMHO California is a great place to learn, challenge yourself, and be exposed to many things and cultures as a young adult. However it also means having to learn to be content even when you know your family could live more comfortably elsewhere.

Buying a home in San Diego is achievable for anyone who sets their mind to. Even low income families can buy via affordable housing programs. The City of El Cajon has one of the best. How about 40% of the purchase price in forgivable loans up to $424,000? Do you homework, dig a little deeper and quitcherbitchen. Porkman

That is not what most people want their hard earned money to go for and it is not exactly the american dream. Grow up and make some sense before you go attacking other folks for their opinions. No one else cares if you think your funny, find another forum for your juvenile nonsense.
