There are a few who do not get emotionally involved at all. These are generally only a**holes by accident, because by definition they aren’t evil, only socially inept.
If you type “unrepentant prick” into the Pigg search engine you will find only me describing myself as such on various occasions over the years. Socially inept? Perhaps… all evidence to the contrary notwithstanding, of course. I’d probably stick to socially deviant (well, by the “average person’s” standard, anyway). But, you say tomato, I say toma(h)to.

April 7, 2011 at 5:06 PM #684657ScarlettParticipantI think Dave is craving this kind of attention he can get by making snarky remarks. That’s pretty childish and should be treated appropriately – IGNORE. Those of you with young kids know that’s how you deal with this kind of behavior.

April 7, 2011 at 5:06 PM #684652ScarlettParticipant

Just drop it Dave. CA R is right. It WAS insulting and uncalled for and I decided to ignore that. And this was not the first time you did it either. Just because it’s internet it doesn’t mean people don’t have feelings and yes it bothered me greatly that day. Don’t assume because you are an insensitive person others are too. You DON’T KNOW that and you should treat your fellow posters with respect.
“Just drop it”? That’s awfully curt. Now I feel insulted. Kidding, of course.
The only reason a comment from a random internet poster (and, by definition, someone you don’t know personally) would have “bothered you greatly” is if it hit a nerve… and only you know why that’s the case. I could only speculate.
If it’s o.k. with you… I think I’ll wait for Rich to admonish me before altering any purportedly boorish behavior… it being his site and all. But I will duly note that the Posters with Grievances Club has one more member. Welcome!
I wouldn’t have used “just drop it” until you said you can’t be offended – so You asked for it. You can speculate all you want. Our families haunt us for NOT keeping us with Joneses – and they know us infinitely better than you. So it bothered me that somehow I gave you that impression and I wondered how, if at all, I misrepresented myself.
Nice post, Ren. I see things the same way.
