I will have no problem divulging to the Joneses, or the Rodriguezes, for that matter, that my kid, “Muffy” is currently enrolled in “community college.” Everyone is aware that admission is much easier for an entering junior with an associate degree under their belt (and all their GE’s taken care of) :=][/quote]Community College! Harrumph! Clearly you have an insufficient desire to social climb…

April 6, 2011 at 7:44 PM #684370scaredyclassicParticipantI really think life was better for lawyers in the old days. … When I worked in municipal finance I remember looking at some old deals that were documented on just a few short pages. That mutated into hundreds of closely spaced typewritten pages. Man it woulda been nice have the secretary type up a few pages collect a big fee and hit the golf course..
There’s a funny article in the aba journal comparing harvard law school exams. They have one from 1871 that everyone here could ace. The new ones ate truly daunting

“My parents then bought a REO in UC. 2016 sf. Great house to grow up in – but it was the BOONIES. Back then UTC didn’t exist. 52 didn’t exist. 805 didn’t exist. Even Genesee didn’t connect UC to Clairemont… The only way in and out was on Regents Rd to Clairemont Mesa Blvd. (and then cut over on Moraga to Balboa to get to the 5 freeway.)”
It sounds like you grew up in a very different place than you live today even though you live in the same house. Pretty clear the UC of today is far more developed and grown up than it was when your parents bought.
