SF keeps passing tax increases on businesses

Wow, the SF voters keep passing one business tax increase after another. June 2018 they passed a “Prop C” that adding an addition 3.5% tax ($150 million a year) on commercial rents.

Nov 2018 they will pass another tax increase, also called Prop C, hitting only to corps with more than $50 million in revenue. It will raise about $300 million a year.

For some of these businesses, instead of 0.5% of local revenue it will be 1.5% of local payroll.

Can you think of a less business friendly place anywhere on the West Coast?

That and a proposition that middle and high school can’t start earlier than 830am..we will have almost the stupidest kids in the country, second to maybe New Jersey.lol

or kids meals cant be sold with any drink other than milk or water….

or in SF companies cannot provide free meals to employees.. lol

Kids learn better when they’re awake. 8:30 to 3:00 with half an hour for lunch sounds fine to me. Actual science supports later school opening times.

The only reason for early school opening times is to teach kids to accept pointless suffering.

I agree. I don’t see them moving. In fact many want to move into SF.

Taxation should be like business revenue. Find the sweet spot, economists call it the optimal point, and charge what the market will bear. That’s running government like a business!

What would you know about kids and education and being a parent ???

I went to high school, I don’t remember any of my f%^&ing 8 am classes. Also, you know, science…

If there’s school busing where kids don’t live close enough to walk or bike, how does that affect parents? Parents can go to work before the kids once they’re in middle or high school.

Over 11 = old enough to walk or walk to the bus stop like kids have done for the last 100 or so years, without being driven to work by a nanny-stater helichopper parent. In fact, forcing kids to walk or take the bus instead of being helicoptered to school by a paranoid helicopter parent is a good thing:

(1) more exercise for Biffy and Buffy. Get the heart rate up before school, reduce youth obesity.
(2) less traffic and less pollution from unneeded driving
(3) kids develop some level of independence and self-awareness

I’m ok with abolishing property taxes and free public education.
I would save a lot of money.
