Escrow is much less scary this time. i guess you get used to anything.
These property inspection reports are however scary. Should I be alarmed by “non-professional electrical installations’? A possible pool leak? All the language is couched with the potential for disaster. How much money is all this really gonna cost me? He keeps ssaying I should have all these things checked out by a professional ___. well, that’s why i had the inspection! Should i just get a bunch of smoke detectors, insure the hell out of it and hope for the best?
I have a feeling this house, and most houses, will just end up being tremendous money pits.
The payment is not much more than rent, at least until they eliminate the mortgage interest deduction. Certainly there’s no way you could find a place to rent half this nice at this payment. We are at half off peak, but interestingly the homeowner was not heavily leveraged. So with our relatively high offer, the bank is only out about 15%.
Given that scenario, am I being greedy in trying to get a small credit toward closing costs? I’d kind of like to walk away from the deal altogether, not because it’s a a bad deal per se, just because the whoel thing is going to be a monstrous project.
i think buying a house is a much better thing to do when you have no awareness of what yoou are getting into. Kinda like marriage is for the young and clueless, or at least the blind. Once you know too much about the financial system, plumbing bills, the possible elimination of mortgage interest deduction, the possibility of divorce, well, it takes all the fun and romance out of it.
I’m not that stressed out, just kind of tired and worn down to a nubbin. Also i feel like a giant host that a bunch of parasites are feeding off of.
