So why drink and drive. Why not just drink at home. Or if you’re out drinking, get a cab. Whatever it costs to get a cab has to be less than the bar tab or the 10k+ it would cost if you get a DUI, not to mention the time you spend in jail if you kill someone.
If you’ve read Superfreakonomics the authors point out the only one DUI is caught for every 27,000 DUI miles driven. Scary. They also point out that drunk-walking is eight times more dangerous than drunk-driving.

March 25, 2010 at 10:33 AM #531129jpinpbParticipantI haven’t read it, but I will. Drunk-walking is more dangerous? Maybe to oneself. Driving drunk, you can kill passengers in your car and the driver and/or passengers of the car you hit, or the pedestrians on the road.

Article says Saturday night, not Sunday night.
I was actually stopped at a checkpoint in Lake Elsinore about a week ago. Looks like they are becoming very common.
San Elijo Road has become a major route between Carlsbad and the 15. Maybe on a Sat night, it is a major route between Cal State SM students and the bars on Carlsbad Village Drive.
