ParticipantThe only reason why Public Transit doesn’t work here in SD is because the voters are too freak out to invest in it. It runs off of 1/6th of a cent sales tax. Give me a break. The voters approved the transnet sales tax a coulpe of years ago, but the majority of that funding is going to hwy and capital construction, none to operations. San Fran and L.A. both have a full cent dedicated to transit operations. Although L.A. too sprawled to serve, S.F. (more like S.D.) is served great and everyone with a car has an option.
All great cities have a great public transit system. Look around the world.. Improve it here, and San Diego’s will be great.

ParticipantI drive from La Jolla to PQ after work from 5 to 6 and the traffic appears to get worse these days. I use N5 and E56. Nothing’s changed unfortunately.

Participant
I’d love to see $10/gallon gasoline. It would cause short term pain, but eventually most of us would get used to taking the “school bus” to work just like we did when we were kids.
It’s not like I (or most anyone else) has to drive to work every day. We just do it because taking public transportation to work is such a hassle. Double the price of gas and many, many more people will make that sacrifice of getting up a half hour earlier to catch the bus or the train or whatever. There will be a short-term shortage of mass-transit vehicles, but the free market will fix that soon enough.
More expensive fuel/energy leads to a much better society in my opinion. Much less waste, pollution, and conspicous consumption and more focus on things that actually matter.
$10 a gal in gas would be good??
Why do democrats love to screw the low and middle class??
I know why. They want to make life miserable for them so they can blame it on the GOP so they can get elected and screw some more people.
Power is all the Socialists care about.
