Lots of good takes on why she’s bored; the fact is that almost any college student is going to be bored living in their parent’s house, especially if said student is relatively broke. Assuming you live in the ‘burbs, driving anywhere interesting takes time and gas money.
San Diego is a phenomenal city when it comes to recreational opportunities. The beach, the mountains, biking, camping, hiking, most of which can be done year-round. Culturally though, there’s not that much going on here compared to other major cities. The art scene is pretty dead overall. Most of the theater experiences are really expensive.
I would love to live in some magical city that combined the bay area experience with San Diego’s weather and the Midwest’s cost of living.

Thanks. I know. I guess my biggest problem is that she isn’t returning to Bumfeck, Kansas. If you go out of your comfort zone here in SD, and I know she does this in SF, there’s all kinds of stuff to discover and explore.
Like I said, hubby and I have lived in the north Bay Area, in Orange County, and here, in several locations including P.B., which we got the hell out of as soon as I got pregnant.
She’s stormy, but I know this too shall pass.

JP, me too. I hate cold weather. What does "SAD" stand for ?
