This always annoys me:
“SD lacks culture”It has alot of culture. Just not the kind of culture that is considered culture by some of those who consider themselves intellectuals.
I have lived in both areas and frankly, I don’t miss the “I’m more intellectual/artsy than you” attitude of the Bay Area one bit.

June 8, 2008 at 1:56 AM #219286anParticipantSaying San Diego is nothing w/out the weather is like saying SF is nothing w/out (put your fav thing about SF here). I hate SF. It’s too cramp, too much hustle and bustle. Cost of living is through the roof. I love the slow beach town feel of SD. I’ve been to many cities around the world and I’m still glad I live here.
TuVu, I hear NP have a really hard time finding jobs here in SD. I’m not sure how it is in SF, but many NP would have to work as RN for awhile until the position open up. That’s what I heard anyways.

Yep, you’re probably right. Even with just a BSN/RN she’d make $70K for starters in the Bay Area. I personally prefer NPs over doctors…in my experience, they always spend more time with you. Because of my health insurance, I use Sharp here in San Diego. I went a week ago to a new doctor and was called in by a woman who said, “I’m Jane, Dr. BlahBlah’s nurse.” While questioning me, I blabbered about my daughter becoming a nurse and I asked “Jane” where she’d gone to nursing school. Can’t remember what she said, but it was the health care equivalent of DeVry (sp?). In other words, she was not a nurse, she was a nurse’s aid or whatever. This led me to believe that Sharp is being cheap or can’t attract RNs. Jane was perfectly competent, BTW.
