OP: Can anyone recommend a smartphone?
spdrun: You don’t need a smart phone; carry flags for semaphore and build your own mainframe from chicken bones and discarded Atari 2600 parts. NEXT!OP: How much do you typically pay a gardener?
spdrun: You don’t need a gardener; grow your own topiary maze and painstakingly, over the course of many years, train an army of voles to maintain it. NEXT!OP: What’s everyone’s favorite pasta recipe?
spdrun: Only chumps eat solid food; you should become a being of pure energy and feed on sound waves. NEXT!OP: Is this a good time to buy a house?
spdrun: If you live in a house you are an idiot. You should live in your car, which, if it’s not a 1984 Datsun 200SX, you are also an idiot. BOOM! MIC DROP, SMOKE BOMB, EXIT STAGE RIGHT![/quote]
Best post EVER :-D. Don’t forget the 200SX HAS to be manual, else it’s a POS.September 8, 2016 at 10:26 PM #801089spdrunParticipantAll joking aside, if you want a phone that’s a phone and texting device, feature phones crush smartphones as far as battery life and usability as a phone.
Browsing and doing work? I prefer a real keyboard and a desktop interface, or at least a bigger tablet screen.
September 8, 2016 at 11:09 PM #801090anParticipantHow do you fit a tablet in your jeans pocket? Why would you pay more to have service for 2 devices?
September 8, 2016 at 11:17 PM #801091spdrunParticipantYou can get a barebones unlimited plan from a MVNO for very cheap, like $20/mo. You don’t fit the tablet in your jeans pocket — one doesn’t need to be connected to the Intarwebz 24/7/365.
I barely use my phone for anything necessary other than calling and texting. For any work or interaction with the Internet, my small laptop is much more comfy.

That, sir, is where we disagree!

Even my 70+ years old relatives disagree with his statement. So, he must be at least 80+ :-D.September 9, 2016 at 8:25 AM #801103spdrunParticipantActually, millennials are more likely to want to “disconnect” at least part of the time than older people:
September 9, 2016 at 8:34 AM #801104CoronitaParticipantI have to admit, sometimes I’m sick of dealing smartphones.
I miss my motorola krzr.My mom asked for a new phone, I got her and iPhone since I don’t want to deal with supporting an android phone if something doesn’t work. lol.
September 9, 2016 at 8:36 AM #801105anParticipantYou know what they say, there are lies, damn lies, and statistics. They split out the millennial when show that they desire to unplug. But combine the % when it comes to actually unplug. My bet is that, millennial are much less likely to actually unplug.

millenials don’t unplug, because the phones they use no longer have earplugs anymore. Everything is wireless!
Well off to work…To deal with more connectivity issues….lol…
When you guys whip out your Android phone runnning Marshmallow, and click on the nice little WIFI icon or Bluetooth icon and you get a nice little message that says “connected”, even if you are using a really shitty android phone or tablet, you can thank me…September 9, 2016 at 9:05 AM #801108spdrunParticipantBluetooth earpieces are so 2008.

I wouldn’t.know. o don’t use one and I don’t work on earpieces
September 9, 2016 at 11:11 AM #801114moneymakerParticipantI like my bluetooth earpiece and won’t get a smart watch until it can connect to at least two phones simultaneously like my earpiece can.
