Roofer, drain company, gutter company, electrician, and window installer

Hi all, happy holidays. Need to get quite a bit of work done on our house, and looking for recommendations on

1. roofer
2. storm drain company
3. gutter company
4. electrician
5. someone who can do windows. both fix existing windows/tuning as well as window installation

Finally, need to buy a new dishwasher, any recommendations on dishwashers recently purchased? I’m considering one with a stainless steel basin.

For a GREAT electrician I can highly recommend Heron at Comfort Electric. He is really great. He will come out to your place and give you a free estimate. I’ve used him for several things and he is very good and honest and totally dependable.

One time I had a problem and needed him to come out but he walked me through the problem over the phone and refused payment for the help. He’s a great guy. I highly recommend him.

He’s also a Super Service Provider on AngiesList.

For windows, try Pelican Windows and Doors. They did a lot of work for us on our remodel and addition, and were very professional and fair.

I was looking for a dishwasher with:

-a hard food disposer
-high-temp (sanitary) wash
-heated dry
-direct-feed upper wash arm (though in this link, it doesn’t mention it; we have an earlier model…if interested, ask them specifically about it)
-quiet

We use it often — twice a day is not uncommon — and have not had any problems. We even plan to get a second one in the near future as our kitchen is plumbed for two dishwashers.

Anyone have a good drainage company recommendation? Also a good roofer?

I’m finding thus far the guys/ companies suggested to me by friends are flakes and can’t manage to show up on time or return calls promptly which I know I shouldn’t be surprised by but… I guess the economy is doing great and these guys must all be slammed with work.

Of course, I only wash twice a week, not twice a day :), but it has been great, is very quiet and also has a SS interior.

This is my third Kitchenaid, all “Superba” models. My mom used Kitchenaid DW’s as well . . . that is, after we finally GOT a DW and my sister and I were finally relieved from our “daily duties” 🙂

It’s not uncommon for them to last 25 yrs or more. They’re very “heavy-duty.” I’ve owned three only because we sold the house 🙂

Aaron Orman at Marlyn Construction installed my Milgard Tuscany windows. I did new construction windows throughout my house. I added a new window to a room as well as convert an old window into a sliding glass doors. The existing sliding glass doors were replaced with french doors. Aaron was fast and had a great price.

I really liked the Kitchenaid and LG dishwashers but I saw a fairly good amount of bad reviews and decided not to risk it. I ended up buying one of the higher end Bosch models from Lowes. They had a deal on appliances and let me stack a 10% off coupon as well as my 5% lowes credit card. This was a couple of months ago.

It’s very quiet when running, the water draining from the unit is louder than when it’s washing. When it’s on, it has a red light that shines onto the ground so that you know it’s in use. I also like that it’s very adjustable. I can move trays around and push down the spokes.

Can’t say they’re discount roofers, but they do get the job done.

Unfortunately, I don’t know of anyone who does drainage.

Just thought about a possibility for your drainage issues.

We had a lot of concrete work done around our home, and as part of that work, they did some drainage work. I believe some/most concrete guys do deal with drainage.

We used Albert for our concrete and cannot recommend him highly enough. Of all the contractors we’ve dealt with, he’s got to be one of the most efficient, professional, honest contractors out there. He was a total pleasure to work with — always on time, did everything exactly as he said he would, and came in at exactly his bid price. He does quality work, too. We plan to use him at some point in the future for more concrete/drainage work.
