Pretty funny, but republicans still mostly support trump.
This leads me to believe that most republicans are sick in the head.
Its not open for discussion in my mind at this point in time.
If you support trump i think you are morally wrong or dopey or suffering from extreme tribalism, more mind distorting than lsd.
I would not want to engage in a discussion with someone like that on the issue of whether trump should be elected. Nothing can be said to persuade, me or her, not even that deep state produced lindsey graham photoshopped ad.
Opinions are set at this point.
Not that any other position means youre morally good or wise. Just that the existing trump supporters actually damaged the us and are scaring me. Lindsey graham, pathetic.
Ive felt vaguely threatened by trumpies ive talked to making threats about a coming civil war in which the liberals die because they are unarmed.
Yeesh. I dont want trumpies killed.
June 16, 2020 at 7:38 AM #818288CoronitaParticipant2020 is going to be decided by all the people in the middle.
Biden is the best candidate for this. All he has to do is stay centered and avoid saying something stupid.
We are going to have a reinfection, it’s going to be bad. Especially in the red states that disregarded the seriousness of this and opened early. There’s going to still be a lot of unemployed people. They are going to cut off UI benefits to those people, people are going to die. lots of people. BLM bring our the worst in Trump and this administration. His incompetence and racism will get amplified by 10x.abith covid and BLM were gifts to Biden
All Biden has to do is avoid doing anything extreme that polarizes people. Hence, why he is taking so long to pick s running mate. I think if he picks Harris, it’s going to polarize people and he knows that. I think what he needs to do is go the safe route and pick a local politician that is moderate. Prime candidate would be an Asian woman from a state district that has no history of or any baggage. He could keep his promise of picking a woman and keep his promise of picking someone that is a minority. It would play into most moderate Republicans that view Asians as “neutral” and pick up most of the Asian moderate voting block . The candidate would respect and support BLM and that would get the African American and Latino votes. Harris has way too much baggage, so does Warren. He needs to pick someone unknown at the national level

Is there anyone left in the middle?
Trumps repub. Support recently “plummeted” to 85%. Jesus fuckin christ. 85% through this? The overwhelming majority are on his side. He could pull it off.
If 85 perc. Of repub. Today support trump, and that number plummeted from the 90s, then there is an overwhelming chance that every single person i meet who identifies repub. Is not a person i would trust.

I’d say yes.. Read the update I said before you quoted me.

But they wont be persuaded by a snarky lindsey graham clip talking smack about trump and praising biden. Because lindsey graham is an obvious spineless cretin.
I still will vote green, i suppose my contempt 4 the system parallels the republicans

Ah yes, but I’m think more like all the people who like Mitt Romney and John McCain who went into hiding because they don’t want to be part of this GOP mess. I suspect there’s many of them.
Biden picks someone like Harris or Warren that is way to progressive, those people are going to remain asleep. Biden’s got to go the safe route right now because if push comes to shove, progressives will get out and vote for Biden even if he doesn’t pick someone progressive. Why? Because they now are rallying behind BLM. Biden pretty much is going to getting most african american votes after what happened with Floyd. BUT, he can’t pick anyone white as a running mate (male or female). He already went on record saying he was going to pick a female minority. To go back on that, Trump administration would have a field day on that.
Ideal running mate: Asian woman at the state assembly/senate level, moderate, not chinese. No ammunition to give the Trump administration to go after. Trump administration can’t play the “socialist” card.
Biden won’t win on a polarized ticket.

That this is a close race makes me not want to talk to my repub. Neighbors. Theyre everywhere, trump flags and banners flying.

Oh please do take pictures and post because I’m really curious about this… I have yet to see many here. The only one Ive seen is when I went hiking one weekend and there was this massive dark colored Dodge truck with this massive Donald Trump flag on a pole sticking out of the bed that just pulled in abd parked…I was with hiking people and we were thinking this isn’t going to end well, because we already saw a bunch of people not in our group giving that guy the evil eye.
Anyway he put his flag away inside the truck and we went hiking for a few hours and came back. The truck was still there, but when we walked by it, we noticed someone had keyed “fuck you, fuck trump” on his truck.
June 16, 2020 at 8:18 AM #818295scaredyclassicParticipantThere was a grad. Party down the street this weekend. No masks.
Texas christian univ flag flying in the yard. Trucks with trump regalia all down the block.
Trump trump trump.
85 perc. Support.
No masks. Jeez.

I think Harris would be a good pick. While someone of her stature but further right would be ideal, I don’t think she’s “way too progressive.” She’s obviously no where near as liberal as Warren.
She’s from a state Biden is already going to win, though, so she has that going against her.
All he has to do is stay centered and avoid saying something stupid.
And we all know how hard that second one is for him.
I think the biggest problem facing his reelection campaign right now is the “defund the police” movement. Even though he doesn’t support it, that could easily cost him the election, IMO.
He could keep his promise of picking a woman and keep his promise of picking someone that is a minority.
I think Biden limiting himself to a female running mate is a mistake. He’s effectively saying, “I’m ruling out all these great candidates, and I’m ruling out possibly the best candidate, because he’s a man.” Stupid.
I can’t find where Biden committed himself to a minority running mate. Can you show me that?
June 16, 2020 at 8:39 AM #818297CoronitaParticipantah ZK. you are correct. he did not say he will definitely pick a minority running mate. He said he “may”….I mistook that as “he will”..
which itself is a problem. I think he should have kept his mouth shut and just said I’m stilling considering the best candidate from all facets of America and left it at that.
personally, I think he pigeon holed himself by making a half firm commitment of picking a woman and trying to appease minorities and mentioning he may pick one for his running mate.June 16, 2020 at 8:44 AM #818298CoronitaParticipant
There was a grad. I call that Darwin selection, scardey. I mean, obviously I wish no evil on anyone. But would you really be surprised if some of them get sick?
Totally.
I think he should just wear a mask all the time until November, and when somebody asks him a question, just point to his mask and kinda shake his head and throw his hands up as if to say, “sorry. Mask. Can’t talk.” And maybe wear a gag underneath it in case the urge to talk overwhelms him.
Only half joking. I’m on pins and needles every time he talks. It’s going to be a long 4 1/2 months.
