There were interviews of Republicans asking them what they thought of the Border Patrol locking babies in cages. The response was if that’s what it takes, then Trump is right.

My TV stays on Fox News or the Golf Channel. Maybe I’m a right winger, who knows. If believing in small government, low taxes, secure borders, respect for law enforcement, and a powerful military make me a right winger, then so be it. As a matter of fact, I am watching Tucker Carlson right now.

I believe in those things too. Unfortunately, the anti PC environment has caused those who believe similarly to reveal themselves to be mostly racist misogynists- so much so that I can no longer be the registered Republican I was at 18.

We have never in the history of our country had such strong, damaging, widespread, and far-reaching propaganda. Unless something changes pretty soon, it could very well be the downfall of our country.

Right. And if this country actually does fall apart – to a degree where they can no longer claim things are going well – because of trump and the republicans, fox will blame it on liberals, and the deplorables will fall for it.

We can’t win and, as I’ve said before, I don’t see a solution. Except enough reasonable Americans seeing the peril of our current situation and getting off their asses and voting in 2020, giving us something besides trump-led republicans in the senate, and somebody other than trump as president. And even that will only work if it’s not too late.

Fox is a godsend to Russia and China.
If I were them I would spread lies to be picked up by Fox. For example, the lie that google biased searches in favor of Hillary was first reported by Russian news. Fox then Trump repeated it and the deplorables believed him.

The country “falling apart” is a bold statement.
From an economic point of view, the USA, 5% of the world’s population, has outperformed the rest. But it’s coming to an end.

I was reading an article on Mexico. They have many projects going such as high speed rail If they can get their act together as China did, they will become very dynamic with a median population age of 27.
Mexico will not surpass the USA in my lifetime. But it’s quite possible that a hell of a lot of Mexicans will surpass millions of Americans. The trends are what matter.

In today’s world, it’s best to put aside nationalism and be a citizen of the world. I’m going to improve myself and become 80% fluent in Spanish. I think it will be exciting to spend extended time in Latin America in the next 50 years.

I’m open-minded. I watch fox news about twice a week, just to get a good laugh. I love how the anchors try to sell Trump is winning on trade. What I find funny is that Republicans say they care about money, wealth and productivity but they are not very good at it. They love Trump so much because, like Trump, they care more about claiming they won even when they lost. It works psychologically for them but real wealth does not add up that way. Populists are not wealthy folks.

One reason I avoid video news, whether it’s msnbc or fox or cnn or any television (or other video) news is that it’s just buckets of emotion being thrown at you. And those emotions are there, usually, in an attempt to manipulate. I despise it.

That said, I watched the trailer. Looked good. I watched a couple interviews, skipping around to try to get a feel for their style. Looked good. I liked that they’re pretty low-key, the seem like they’re trying to get to the heart of things. I like their sense of humor and their style in general.

Or maybe it’s just that I generally agree with them that the emotion that they do show doesn’t bother me. And now I’m going down a slippery road toward being manipulated. I don’t like that.

The other main reason I avoid video news is that I just don’t want to spend the time. If I watch a 30-minute interview with somebody, I might get a better idea of their personality than if I read the news, so maybe if I’m curious about someone this would be a good place to flesh out my opinion. But video is just so slow. I can read a shit ton of news in 30 minutes.

Anyway, thanks for the recommend. I’ll keep them in mind.
