My TV stays on FOX News. I tried watching MSNBC, but I could not take it. I guess I am a “right wing” advocate with maybe a few liberal views that I am wiling to give up for lower taxes, a genocide campaign against MS-13, pushing car-jackers into oncoming traffic, and getting rid of economy killing regulations.
Do you see the possibility that some of the views you hold might be based on lies? Lies that fox news is telling you?
May 30, 2018 at 2:03 PM #810166FlyerInHiGuest

Lol @ roseanne
I think the roseanne situation illustrates just how ensconced in their alternate reality these propaganda-brainwashed nutjobs are. They really think that it’s reality, and they don’t understand that people in real reality see them as profoundly ignorant. I mean, if their “reality” was real, why would anybody be upset when they tweeted about what, in their world, is true?
In their “reality,” comparing black people to apes is de rigueur. Believing in wacky conspiracy theories is normal. These things aren’t questioned in their “reality,” they’re applauded. How many times do you think roseanne has seen a tweet or an article in the right-wing nut-o-sphere that was vile and racist and yet was ignored by the mainstream (because it was from some nobody) and was met with nothing but support from similar-minded people? She probably thought, “yeah, this will get some LOLs and some retweets, just like I always see these things get.” Not understanding that there is a real world out there that she is a part of and where these things don’t fly.
When roseanne’s character on the show was a trump supporter, that caused a lot of conversation and an increase in viewership. But it didn’t really come with any condemnation. And why would it? You can vote for whoever you want. But I think she misunderstood this lack of condemnation for her being a trump supporter for a lack of condemnation for being the other things that frequently come with being a trump supporter. Like being ignorant and a racist and a conspiracy theorist and being ensconced in an alternate reality.
These people don’t just think they’re normal, they think they’re righteous and strong. And the reason that they think they’re righteous and strong is that, in their alternate reality, they are. And the reason that, in their alternate reality, they’re righteous and strong is brainwashing by right-wing media.
And that’s part of the reason why right-wing propaganda has such a strong hold on them and why they’re so reluctant to let go of their support for trump. For them to let go of their alternate reality, they have to go from being righteous and strong to admitting that they have no strength and are of low virtue and that they’ve been ignorant all this time. That’s quite a fall to take. Right-wing propagandists have them right where they want them, and they’re not letting go without a fight.
Great post.
Don’t worry, people who think they are righteous and strong but misinformed will lose on opportunities, in the aggregate. They will be economically and culturally poorer. They will have their comeuppance.
The hypocrisy among the right wing is that they always said that private citizens and companies should be able to do whatever they like. Well, ABC is a private company. End of discussion.
May 30, 2018 at 4:14 PM #810168svelteParticipantI have difficulty in finding a news source that isn’t very biased left or right.
This may sound strange, but I think mailonline.com does a decent job. One day they’ll be bashing the right, the next day they’ll bash the left. Same thing with support. Just never know what they’ll agree with.
Another plus: a lot of times they’ll have the full and deeper scoop on a US news story than US news outlets, and much sooner! I have no idea how they manage that…
But any time I’m frustrated that US news sites don’t have enough details early enough, I hit mailonline.com and there is the whole story. It’s bizarre.

I never get an answer to this question.
June 1, 2018 at 8:08 AM #810176svelteParticipantI don’t think Mr. “Grab’em by the pu**y” has any right to call for someone to be fired for saying “feckless c*nt”.
June 3, 2018 at 11:38 PM #810220FlyerInHiGuestRobert Samuelson writes fair economics column, imo.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/why-the-economy-is-roaring/2018/06/03/f127a8be-65bc-11e8-99d2-0d678ec08c2f_story.html?utm_term=.0a7381f5f117I was talking to a contractor earlier. Trump voter. Not fanatic but still Trump voter.
The right wing media does make people stupid by riling them up. For example, Trump voters hear him scream trade deficits, unfair, no reciprocity, blah blah. They get all worked up. They don’t understand that the status of the dollar as a reserve currency naturally results in structural deficits. It also gives us more purchasing power and a higher standard of living. ugh… it’s hopeless.
June 14, 2018 at 9:15 AM #810251zkParticipantTrump actually said that the people of North Korea love kim jong un.
I guess I wouldn’t be surprised if trump actually is that ignorant.
The people of North Korea love kim jong un in the same way that the people in The Twilight Zone love that kid who can wish them into the cornfield. “It’s good that you killed your uncle and your brother. It’s good that we’re all dirt poor. It’s good that you put my mother and sister in a torture camp. We love you, kimmy!”
And the ones who have fallen for the state propaganda… well, that’s exactly what trump wants for himself. He wants to be “loved” by a country that either fears him or has been brainwashed to think he’s great. That’s why he attacks actual, reliable news media and props up fox news.
How do you think fox propaganda will report this?
How many Americans will now actually believe this because their only sources of “news” are fox, breitbart, limbaugh, etc. And those sources will somehow spin it into trump somehow not being either outrageously ignorant or a liar.
trump also said that his relationship with other G7 leaders is a 10. Jesus Christ. The same people who believe that North Koreans love kim jong un probably also believe that trump’s relationships with Trudeau, Merkel, Macron et al. are a 10. Brainwashed fools.
It’s dangerous and it’s pathetic and it’s disgusting. And it’s ruining our country, because these idiots vote based on their alternate reality.

But, we, as a country, have enabled the deplorables. We coddled them; and we waited too long to call a spade a spade. Shame on us.
I was talking to a new friend, a Jewish neighbor whose parents fled the holocaust. Hiltler didn’t come to power on his own. A whole society enabled him within and outside of Germany.
What gets me is that Trump is selling prosperity. However, the best way to build wealth is to have an open, tolerant and free society full of immigrants and open to trade.
June 23, 2018 at 12:07 PM #810297FlyerInHiGuestZK, I’m sure you saw this NYT story. Is is the press, or is it a deeper culture among the American population? I think Trump just unmasked and enabled an ugly part of America that was always there.
As Critics Assail Trump, His Supporters Dig In Deeper
With President Trump’s approval rating at 90 percent among Repiblicans, his supporters say they defend him because they feel criticism of him is constantly overblown. So in the story, we have Gina Anders, a lawyer who bonds with Trump. OMG, really?
I always knew that women will defend and enable their deplorable husbands, but a lawyer feeling angry at Trump critics…. that shows some deep cultural issues.June 23, 2018 at 2:23 PM #810299scaredyclassicParticipantEvery woman adores a Fascist,

I’ve seen fascist brutes and the women who adore them.
Pathetic, really. But they’re out there.
This poem was apparently about her father.
I guess maybe it’s also a metaphor about people and their leaders, though. Some people like a brute with a boot in their face for some reason. I don’t get it. But they do.
July 23, 2018 at 12:16 PM #810420FlyerInHiGuestzk, I think it’s called loyalty. Once a woman has sex and children with a man, she loses all reason.
In my high school way back when, there was a scandal. A Vietnam vet has abusing his son and daughter (poor kids, I knew them). The guy went to prison and she bailed him out. That being said, I think women are way nicer and peaceful than men. At this condo complex where I own property, there is this woman tenant who keeps company of bad men. Whenever the men are around, there are parties, noise, drugs, confrontations. She will defend the men to the ends of the earth… but when the men are gone, everything is quiet. Glad the owner of the condo is not renwing the lease later this year.
So I think the women deplorables you see on TV are whipped up by their real deplorable men.
July 23, 2018 at 12:23 PM #810421FlyerInHiGuestOMG, I chat with some deplorables who talked about badass Trump and weakass NATO.
They had no clue of the difference between the Baltic and the Balkans. And those people claim to be all about euro centric western culture. I don’t think Fox News puts up any maps.October 24, 2018 at 8:23 AM #811098zkParticipantBombs sent to Clintons, Obama, and Soros.
I don’t think that happens without all the brainwashing going on by right-wing media.
These fools have had it pounded into their heads that Bill and Hillary and George (and Harry and Nancy etc.) are evil. Day in and day out for years and years that’s what they’ve been reading. Bill and Hillary and democrats in general are godless, gun-grabbing, immigrant-encouraging, child molesting, murderous, evil beings who need to be stopped before they get to you and your family.
It’s as much the fault of right-wing media as it is of those brainwashed fools that the fools believe it.
As I’ve said before, I think this is ruining our country, and I don’t see a solution.
