As the bumper sticker goes:
“Will someone give Bush a blowjob so we can impeach him already?”
June 15, 2007 at 9:18 AM #59562AnonymousGuestSince, as Rick Roberts (right wing radio host) calls him, ‘Presidente Jorge Booosh’ is intent on reviving this danged amnesty bill, those of you sympathetic to protecting our ‘borders, language, and culture’ (from Michael Savage, another right wing radio host), please drop an e-mail or phone call to the Republican Senators that Senor Booosh is targeting, linked at http://www.lauraingraham.com/(another right wing radio host). I sent out my e-mails to them yesterday.
Obviously, my commute to and from work is much too long, with too much radio listening time.

Seems you are saying..
1)it is okay for businesses to exploit illegals.
no comment necessary.2)It is important that we apply strict quotas to the individuals who come here under legal immigration because these people may want our jobs.
This country needs talented engineers, scientist and other educated professional who will assimilate and contribute to our society..not more janitors. We are on the verge of getting our collective clock cleaned by India and China and the free importation of uneducated “strawberry pickers” is not going to help the situation.
3) It is somehow not unjust for illegals to jump the line ahead of the people who are wading through the red tape and paying the high dollar fees associated with legal immigration.
The original post was about the amnesty bill. Do you believe that in the end both the illegal “strawberry picker” and the biochemist from Asia who both come to this country but under completely different pretenses are deserving of the most treasured immigration status in the world?
I have seen some flawed logic on this board but this pretty much takes the cake.

June 15, 2007 at 10:22 PM #59741PerryChaseParticipantjg, i’d love to see your radio dial stuck at NPR!
I support El Presidente and I’ll be writing in support the bill. Yes, we should pass that immigration reform bill. That’s the right thing to do.
Unlike most Democrats, I do support the point system. I would go a step further and offer automatic green cards to any BS/BA or above graduate of the top 200 American universities, or MS/MA graduate of the top 200 foreign universities. We should let the smart people in if we want to be competitive.
I fully support letting smart, well-educated would-be immigrants jump ahead of family reunification applicants.

June 28, 2007 at 9:20 AM #62697AnonymousGuestThe Republic is saved! Praise to the Senate!
Now, let’s start enforcing the laws on the books. It’s time to jail some employers-of-illegals.

June 28, 2007 at 8:59 PM #62819NotCrankyParticipantGary, I didn’t deliberately avoid your response .I just never saw it until now.Your response to me shows that you are clueless as to what I said and /or that your are inventing things for the sake of being vexatious. It appears your comprehension is at least as flawed as my logic, IMO quite a bit more.
No comment needed.

June 29, 2007 at 10:53 AM #62940PerryChaseParticipantok, jg, you win.
Your Republican friends will never enforce anything against employers. You can bet on that. Since 1986, how many employers where jailed?
I know of enough small business owners who regularly employ illegals. The funny thing is that they vote Republican, but the lure of saving some bucks and pad their bottom line is too great. Afterall, how do they otherwise afford the McMansion?
It was a sad day for human rights. Sigh. Unfortunately, I don’t see immigration reform for another 6 years. The incoming Democratic president is unlikely to do anything in the first term.

June 29, 2007 at 11:14 AM #62942SDownerParticipantI waited patiently, jumped thro all the hoops, did things the right way and got my GC after 6 years.
I am educated, pay my taxes, contribute to this society, do not hide my income, etc. (Maybe I should)
Why should people be rewarded for just their proximity to the US and illegal access across the border? Having oceans to cross has just made immigration control easier with other countries.
There definitely is a human face to the immigration problem, it is multifaceted, and very difficult to start addressing, but this piece of legislation does not even begin to address the problem at its grass roots.
