I like this, CAR. Of course, something this simple, this efficient, and this good at leveling the playing field will never be adopted. Not to mention that it involves a considerable degree of oversight which, I believe, is equated with violation of the Constitution in some circles these days.

and yet…i’ve been thinking about it from this angle lately — what this country is all about is CONSUMPTION. consume consume consume or die, grow or die, growth and consumption and land development and buying crap at all costs. So it kinda makes sense. the people you would want to punish are people who refuse for some weird personal reason to consume as much as possible, who refuse to take on huge debts, eat more than they can, and also refuse to just buy every last piece of crap in t he store.
