I only know of the superior hoods for white women that rarely cook, sorry.
… that rarely cook because they are so busy watching all the cooking shows on TV
I am very interested in Italian cooking, I watch Giada every chance I get.

(I thought AN and I covered this before…:))
More affordable and works great imho. Looks, well not not necessarily built for aesthetics.
I’ve bought 3 of them for separate homes, and have been pretty happy with them and just about every relative I know that does heavy stir fry cooking have one or one of the knock-off brands.
The key is also ease of cleaning. They don’t use a traditional filter. What you do is spray some 409 into a inlet with the motors on, and the suction drains the 409/grease into two grease containers that you can remove…
When I bought them, it was like 760cfm sanyang pai stainless steel hood for 275 bucks.
There’s a few dealers in El Cajon areaApril 26, 2010 at 3:01 PM #544556CoronitaParticipantYour wife should be familiar with this brand.

Other brands with similar design principles… (No practical experience with them though)
Sakura range hoods. Supposedly better material than previous mentioned company
http://www.sakurausa.com/rangehoods.htm
Knock off of San Yang Pai
http://www.2pacific.com/Also, some of the brands offer self-cleaning models, in which there is a pump that pumps 409 from a reservoir into the fans and drains them to a drain container.
