. . .
Lots of sociopaths And bipolarites can.
It has been suggested that Winston Churchill was bipolar and that he was at his most influential during his manic episodes. People crave the experience of witnessing strong emotions in others. I suppose sociopaths can use that as well . . .
January 20, 2012 at 10:42 AM #736495scaredyclassicParticipantI don’t know how people inspire confidence.
I bet some of it could be taught.
By sociopaths.
January 20, 2012 at 10:44 AM #736496scaredyclassicParticipantAll I know is that I cannot think of one person who inspies confidence in me.
Except my oldest kid. He’s so smart and strong and confident. I’m sure he will do great.
January 20, 2012 at 11:19 AM #736502SD RealtorParticipantyet you didnt answer how one gains ability.
January 20, 2012 at 11:34 AM #736505scaredyclassicParticipantWhich ability?
Success breeds success, I’m sure of that.
January 20, 2012 at 11:46 AM #736507scaredyclassicParticipantApparently ebby Halliday was gorgeous and had a gift for making people feel she was really interested in them.
Reminds me if the time I met Johnnie Cochran.
He focussed on me for five minutes like I was the only human in the universe.

Umm yeah… okay then…
So Ebby Halliday didn’t get to where she was because of her looks. Guess what, there have always been beautiful women and there always will be. She became a success because she busted ass by going door to door to door. She learned real estate and became expert in it. She learned how to deal with people as well. She gained ability, had success and gained confidence from that.
Pretty much the recipe for most all exceptional people who excel…. perhaps even Johnnie Cochran.

Perseverance point taken … “I’m Good Enough, I’m Smart Enough, and Doggone It, People Like Me” and now I’m a Senator. Can you explain why we (almost) never see an ugly Betty realtor (personal coach, etc) in the high end market? Success requires trust from clients which is in part a confidence game that excludes the ugly. On the converse, I’m sure you met plenty of beautiful Bettys who cant spell mella ruse but drive fancy wheels!
January 21, 2012 at 7:45 AM #736536scaredyclassicParticipantI’m not negating hard work and effort. Just saying it’s necessary but not sufficient. Like the good looks.
But there’s something extra I suspect.
January 21, 2012 at 7:53 AM #736537scaredyclassicParticipantThere’s an ebby Halliday biography written by her lawyer. Just read some reviews. Sounds like she started selling hats very successfully in the depression and got into real estate by chance when a builder had some concrete houses he couldn’t sell.
The book is cheap on amazon.
Doesn’t sound like it’s informative on her success though. Lot of flattery I think.
However she does write 6 handrwritten notes to people every day.
Kind of a Johnnie cochranesque thing. Very personal.
She looks like a babe on the cover. An old babe but a babe.
Successful people Like her work hard but more important know how to get others to work hard for them.
