i didn’t like my agent at all by the end, in fact I effin hated him, but I may have overwhelmed him with my intensive assholeness. I wasn’t nice to him. I used redfin and got the discount. i feel he earned his fee. Stuck with me quite a while, listened to a lot of crap, didn’t really help with the situation, and maybe gave me bad advice at one juncture, but maybe i was beyond help. I don’t begrudge the guy his commission.
if i were a seller, I’d probably be willing to pay a greater commission if i thought the agent kicked ass. in fact, just given my limited experience, i’d probably focus less on finding the cheapest realtor than with finding whoever i perceived to be the best. by best i mean most successful, smoothest, busiest, smartest and, well, all around caginess.
same with a lawyer.
it’s weird how small differences in ability can make a big difference in result.
