Thank you all very much. I do think with the current market and inflation rate they are a little high. But I will still be at $1905 for 2100 sq ft in Carlsbad. Where I want to live becasue of the kids school. It seems like the one common denominator is that I need to be prepared to leave. And bottom line is that I hate to move. I will bring up the repairs in the conversation with my landlord though. Again thank you all for your perspective.

A 3BR 1100 sq ft apartment at alicante views was close to 1900 with a garage. We ended up jumping at 1900 sq ft house 3/2/2 for $1950 owned by a long term landlord who owes very little. If you are in south carlsbad you are doing much better than you think.
