Have any of you been to CV lately? That’s Carmel Valley. The only people buying are asian families. Go into a Pardee Model home and see how the sales agents bust a nut when they see an asian family come in. The agents will bull doze over anyone to get to the Asian family.
Hell take a look at the photos on the wall and the music playing. They have photos of asian people with white features and the music is asian inspired.
Any ways. Most of San Diego’s higher end areas have bitchy people that never say hello. I lived in CV for 5 years and I go to the Vons and everyone that works there is nice and says hi to me because they aren’t CV people but the same CV people I see everyday never say hi or even look in my direction.

May 27, 2008 at 5:19 PM #212371CA renterParticipantEnough with your racist BS.
———————–Ack! People need to stop using inflammatory language, and that includes labels like “racist,” “xenophobe,” “hate,” etc.
If we are to see an end to “racism,” people need to speak freely and openly about their experiences and observations…without labeling anybody. It would be better to counter a statement with reasons why a stereotype doesn’t fit, giving examples (anecdotal, personal experiences and observations, too) and data to support your argument.
This person was only remarking about an observation he/she made at model homes. If you expect other people to be more tolerant, you need to be more tolerant as well.
Sorry for the rant… π

May 28, 2008 at 7:51 AM #212428zzzParticipant60% of the world’s population live in Asia. Over 20% of the world’s population is Chinese. With Asia poised to be the world’s economic power in the coming years, I think people better get used to having a lot of Asians around period.
If you choose to live in a neighborhood filled with Asians, you can either choose to benefit from learning from other cultures or not. If I were you, I would have your kids learn Chinese. Forget taking German or French in high school, Americans who can speak Chinese, both Mandarin and Cantonese, are going to have a leg up on those who don’t in the business world. I know many people, white and Asian, who are hiring Chinese nannies so their children can be immersed in learning Chinese.
