Can it be as simple as, because they want to? If there are other place you rather rent for $1700 instead, you can always move. If not, then you can always negotiate. If landlord won’t budge, then all you can do is pay up.

January 27, 2009 at 2:44 PM #337161AnonymousGuestmine was also raised 4 months ago. I asked why and they said it was because of all the housing problems…. more people were either becoming renters again and/or those that were renting were too scared to jump into the purchasing. Supply/demand.

January 27, 2009 at 2:45 PM #337166(former)FormerSanDieganParticipantWell, this seems unusual, but perhaps your rent has been below market. Or the landlord is hoping you don’t quesiotn and just cough it up.
Might be able to better help you if you give more info, such as …
What type of unit (condo, SFR,apartment) ?
How many bedrooms, baths ?
If condo or apartment, how many units in building ?
On-site property management ?
What part of town ?
Amenities included ?
Condition of property and common areas, such as pools, etc ?January 27, 2009 at 2:45 PM #337493(former)FormerSanDieganParticipantWell, this seems unusual, but perhaps your rent has been below market. Or the landlord is hoping you don’t quesiotn and just cough it up.
