Or, someone could call PS to verify – her phone number is on her website. I’d ask sdr to do it, but he’s too busy arguing with Al Gore.
May 3, 2007 at 3:11 PM #51770lurkorParticipantIt sounds like pure Powayseller to me. If it’s a fake, it’s damn good.
I clicked over to her site (damn, I guess her ploy worked) and this chart caught my eye:
[img_assist|nid=3321|title=good analyses|desc=|link=node|align=left|width=466|height=362]
That’s some serious professionalism, just what i would expect from a pay site. Do you think she hired a graphic design firm to add that blue line, or did she pull that off herself? It seriously looks like something a toddler would do with a crayon.
May 3, 2007 at 3:17 PM #51771HereWeGoParticipantI’m sure poway is thrilled that Piggington no longer links to her website. Oh well, you pay your money and you take your chances, as they say.
That’s some beautiful work there, lurkor. Simply outstanding.
May 3, 2007 at 3:42 PM #51773AnonymousGuestThe post is classic ps — misspellings, blunt, poor form. Poor girl either has a screw loose or is completely, utterly tone deaf.
Perry, you are partly responsible for this because of your lack of rebukes for/cheering on despite her past poor behavior. Present your hand for the ruler, sir!
May 3, 2007 at 3:50 PM #51775sdduuuudeParticipantI’m no powayseller supporter, but I, too, have a feeling this is not her post. I’m sure she’ll post here soon if it isn’t her.
May 3, 2007 at 3:50 PM #51776PDParticipantI think it is very possible she wrote that piece. She has attacked Rich before.
If she did not write it, she will post here and deny it. She still reads Piggington’s (because still posts on occasion) so she will probably see this thread.
May 3, 2007 at 4:12 PM #51778BugsParticipantRegardless of who wrote that or what their motivations are, I assume the comments on PS’s web site that bear her name are an accurate reflection of her point of view.
I think Rich lets his work speak for him instead of the other way around, and I appreciate that. He seems to lay all the information he comes across out there and allows it to take it’s own form, even though some of the datapoints may conflict at times with the overall trends. BTW, that is the way the data behaves out in the real world – sometimes it’s more consistent than others. A lot of why I find Rich’s work credible is because when it’s inconsistent or inconclusive, he says so. He doesn’t try to jam every little square piece into the round hole for the express purposes of calling it all round.
As for him not using his every waking moment to run down every lead and pursue every story that comes to his attention, that’s not very difficult to understand. He isn’t running a pay site, this isn’t a business for him, and Piggington’s was never intended to be anything other than a blog or casual forum. We SHOULD have different expectations for a site like Piggington’s than we would for a site purporting to provide investment guidance or which is oriented to providing a professional service.
I’m here because of his work, not because of his personality or because I think he’s cute (although I’m sure some people do consider him to epitomize the image of a Greek God).
The only time I remember Rich getting involved in the user forums was on a couple occasions in the meetup threads and once to threaten to regulate the close quarters combat that was going on at the time between PS and her loyal opposition.
Who would have ever imagined Rich’s following would get big enough to have a vocal fundamentalist splinter group?
May 3, 2007 at 4:13 PM #51779(former)FormerSanDieganParticipantI occasionally check her site for content. She posted a similar thing on her own website, using similar words. The posting on voiceofsandiego says some of the same things she posted on hers.
Some excerpts and the link below …
One more thing: some people on the piggington forums ask what happened to powayseller. After I wrote that “Rich and I missed the boom”, which is true, he really lost his cool, and frankly I did not like contributing to a site where now the host was calling me some bad names. That was on top of having to deal with personalities like jg and others who often put me down, for no reason. I just got tired of dealing with them.
…
I also lost respect for the low level of reporting on that site, and the host’s reluctance to learn from others. I had sent him referrals, realtors he could interview, and they all told me he never called. I sent him emails with corrections to stories in the last few months, but no corrections were ever issued. So there is an air of super sensitivity, and that goes to the clash we had: Rich allowed all name calling in the forum, but absolutely would not tolerate any critique of his reports.
Sounds similar to the post on VOSD.
The unspoken rule over there is “do not disagree with the God”. The worship over there went against my sensibilities.I hope that nobody worships me like that. I would never want that. Please always use your common sense, and don’t blindly believe people who try to teach you about real estate from behind a desk. I stopped reading Rich’s reports, because he uses data to speculate, instead of using facts/interviews to understand. So he comes up with some colorful graphs, but some of them frankly are wrong and misleading.
I realize he dropped me from his RSS Feeds for his website, so my reports are no longer posted over there. This was likely because he did not like that I corrected his story that NODs are must-sell inventory, leading to price drops. He was also mad, as I said above, that I wrote that ” I and he missed the real estate boom”.
I have no problem admitting that, or acknowledging any mistakes. I constantly question other people, so I can keep learning. Demand that of your advisors! Be careful getting your real estate advice from people who do not want to learn, who refuse to disclose their own real estate investing history, or who have a need to be worshipped rather than understood.
…
A big difference you will find here is that I welcome your comments, no matter how much you disagree with me.

May 3, 2007 at 4:30 PM #51782blahblahblahParticipantHoly cow, maybe that really was her! I never read her site so I just gave her the benefit of a doubt. After reading that bit I’m glad I didn’t waste my time…
May 3, 2007 at 4:42 PM #51783sdduuuudeParticipantSuddenly, I’m interested in posting over there just to see how well she keeps learning.
We could start a pool to see how long it takes her to start deleting posts under the guise of “Moderating” her forum.
May 3, 2007 at 4:46 PM #51784SD RealtorParticipantI believe it was her.

May 3, 2007 at 5:11 PM #51785capemanParticipantThat's pretty funny. Claiming someone's data and their statistical interpretation of the data is wrong because they won't interview people.
I stopped reading Rich's reports, because he uses data to speculate, instead of using facts/interviews to understand.
That makes no sense at all. Real data and real numbers are about as factual as you can get. Interviews and opinions from those in the trench are just that… opinions. I would not trust what RE agents and most economists have to say since they have been the benefactors and in most respects the promoters of the current asset bubble. There has never been a precedent for the current bubble so someone's “expert” opinion on what will happen next is pure SPECULATION.
She should probably get her terminology down since there is a big difference between interpretation and speculation. Rich has been really good at presenting and interpreting data so that we as readers can digest it and decide if it makes sense.
That is the proper way to educate and enlighten people.
May 3, 2007 at 5:14 PM #51786lurkorParticipantRead the above rant copied from her crap site and then read the voice of sd letter. No question it’s written by the same person.
Anyone who read that “missed the boom” post she mentions in the above rant knows that she is totally misrepresenting what actually happened. I recall Rich “lost his cool” because she was spreading false info about his private financial life, and then she wouldn’t stop when he asked her to. Funny how that part got left out.
It’s one thing for her to say funny, stupid stuff like “I stopped reading Rich’s reports, because he uses data to speculate,” but it’s another thing to spread lies and rumors and attack someone personally just because you disagree about some things. She is truly a despicable person.
May 3, 2007 at 5:19 PM #51787HereWeGoParticipantAre her housing forecasts as solid as her S&P 500 forecasts?
