I’m so annoyed by the utter dishonesty of politics.
The Prop D initiative asks for a tax increase to pay down City dept,…but tied to it are pension reform issues.
Say no to Prop D and there will be no Tax increase(to fund City programs)…say no to Prop D and there will be no immediate pension reforms(to decrease City pension obligations).
Pension reforms are coming for sure, regardless of Prop D, that is certain.
To me these are opposite sides of the fiscal coin, and extremely sinister in approach, and should not be brought to the voters in this packaged form.
I would say NO to Prop D, but I don’t live in San Diego.
The City issue of financial shortfall lies not only in City Pensions, as is so popular to believe, but also in poorly managed fund allocations and excessive spending on certain programs. IMHO.
I am speaking as one who is NOT in the “circle”. But I am a City employee.
Tying these two thing together is low ball politics, in my opinion.
Catch 22 – damned if you do, and damned if you don’t.
No love lost here, on the people who put these types of propositions together.
Societal manipulation for the uninformed or ignorant.
