This is bullshit. We are willing to pay for it..We just don’t want the funds to go to fvcking bullshit expenses, waste, pensions, retirment benefits, pork, etc…anything BUT education. Or we don’t want a bullshit governor to redirect funds to make up shortfalls to retirement benefits at the expense of our kids and then make up the shortfall to our kids by passing more taxes without addressing the budget problem to begin with..Because it’s obviously most amerikans spend above their means, including our government.
For that matter I am really really disappointed that Prop CC for Del Mar did not pass, but prop 30 did. Because Prop CC probably would have helped he local schools, while prop 30 isn’t going to do shit except give the CA government a bigger credit to spend more money they don’t have on anything but education. Honestly, it doesn’t matter. Because the same amount of money that was going to go to Prop CC I’m going to donate directly to the school of my kid anyway and write it off anyway. Better to my kid’s direct school than some bullshit politician or bullshit pork in Sacramento.
And that’s ok. Because I don’t care. And while I use to believe there was such a thing as the “greater good”, clearly no one else cares.. I use to care about buying american too. You know what. I don’t give a hoot about that too anymore..Because the same whiners that complain about outsourcing are the same whiners that want to tax the fvck out of people who try and get off security cushion at the expense of everyone else…and the same people that will try to reduce their own tax bills however they can…..
I’m adopting the new amerikan mantra… It’s not my problem, so I don’t give a shit. Once the unions and pension holders and every other other special interest groups start giving a shit about controlling spending rather than pointing fingers on who should be taxed more or who shouldn’t, maybe I’ll start caring about the greater good.
Calm down flu. I am not saying Prop 30 is good, and you propably pay much higher tax then me. I am just tired of those people who act like they were shot the instant they hear the word “tax”.

I don’t mind “tax”… I care about “spending”.
We wouldn’t need as much for the former if we took care of the latter….
What I really don’t get is up to now I’ve been a proponent of “hey, don’t do that government, our kids are gonna get screwed with the piles of piles of debt/deficit we are incurring….” But then the most ridiculous thing happened. Our younger generation that voted decides to support the very direction we’re heading…off a fiscal cliff and beyond… It amazes me…
I mean, if this isn’t proof that your younger generation is financially illiterate, I don’t know what is…And so, I’m thinking. If they don’t care about their future, then really it’s not my problem anymore. Because I’m not gonna be here when things get really bad anyway in 50-60 years.
All this thing about, bring jobs back to america. About trying to buy american, about trying to be fiscally responsible and prudent…it all just takes a backseat to polarized “ideology”…
My take on it… Amerikans really don’t care what happens 10-20years down the road. As long as the ATM keeps rolling in present day, that’s ok…
So spend away….
November 8, 2012 at 1:00 PM #754126jstoeszParticipantI am really curious in 4 years to see what the democrats are going to say when the deficit is still massive and the unemployment rivals Detroit. When sacramento can no longer claim its the republicans fault . I guess Michigan still went Blue this time round, so I am not hopeful that anything will change. I just wonder who the knew scapegoat will be for why the state still has a dismal economy. I am putting my money on outsourcing, without the introspection to ask why the jobs left.
All you democratic voters in CA, do you think the states problems will now go away because you have one party rule (a supermajority)?
I believe states should be the test labs of democracy. maybe we will learn something still yet unlearned from liberal states. Anyone care to venture a guess on the CA economic trajectory?

Are you talking state or federal government? At the federal level, I don’t see an alternative, unless you want more war…

I doubt that in 4 years we will see the unemployment rival Detroit. But I share your worries about CA.

Both fed and state..
And what war?
November 8, 2012 at 1:27 PM #754137no_such_realityParticipantLadies and Gentlemen, this isn’t a 2 years or 4 years thing.
This is a 20 years thing.
The path California is on, is the path California will walk for the next 20 years.
The bonds, spending plans, these are programs that will be in place for years. It’ll be 5-10 years before anybody starts to even question if it is or isn’t working. The schools have $14 Billion in new capital spending they’re doing (on top of the bonds from the last two elections). They’ll have shiney new schools, ipads in the schools.
The path that is clearly chosen is going to take 5-10 years before the gloss coat starts to show wear.
The only chance it isn’t a 20 year thing is if over the next two years the CA Government goes nuts with taxes. Nuts to the point that even the untaxed start ask wtf?

I mean if you don’t want to raise taxes, you either need to keep printing money or eventually go to war.
Actually printing money is another kind of war, currency war. So no difference…
November 8, 2012 at 2:49 PM #754142svelteParticipantFlu, you are getting more childish with each passing. Your insistence at putting ‘k’ in the word America just makes you look like a giant ass. You have grown to be a crotchity old white man way before your time, not to mention having miraculously transformed racially to achieve it. Quit whining about every vote that didn’t go your way. Enjoy life for christs sake.

If they don’t care about their future, then really it’s not my problem anymore.
What I have found, is that while the younger generation does care about the future, they do not know how to make hard choices between more than one path and they can not project future costs or long term results in a decision. They are also financially illiterate, partially because they can’t project the long term results of a decision, have poor math skills, and don’t want to take the time(Its boring). They know the now, remember approx the past 15 minutes best, want instant results and have been systematically protected against bad decisions. Since they have been systematically protected against bad decisions, they don’t comprehend the real consequences of poorly thought out decisions. They also don’t want to take the time to go through and figure out what the consequences of a decision are. They make their mind up based upon ‘I like’, ‘I follow’, tweets and media soundbites. Therefore in their mind, “ideology” rules because it is convenient and they don’t have to think about it.
That said, I have noted some, but a dismally small number, of the younger generation do think these things out. Unfortunately they will probably have to ‘carry the load’ for the ‘MTV generation’.
This is not POOMA, it is based upon having to deal with one.. beyond which it would probably be TMI to disclose. Funny thing though, this particular member of ‘the younger generation’ voted for Romney because they thought he was a Democrat.. because he looked like one (no joke).

Thank you. May i have another. Judging by the postings of people probably 20 years older than me here, I think I’m just about the same level of maturity now.
November 8, 2012 at 2:55 PM #754144spdrunParticipantI can’t speak too much to San Diego, but there are plenty of bright, financially literate, small-business-owning (any combo of the three if not all) folks in their 20s and 30s here.

Yeah, but they’re not on piggington…
But actually, you got me wrong I’m not whining at all. I’m actually pretty happy the sky is falling…
I’m in a safe spot…Can’t say the same thing about everyone else…Every day the market shaves off 100 pts, I’m a pretty happy person.
But thanks for reminding me… I’m spending too much time on this blog…
I’ll sign off now… But it’s gonna be fun watching until the end of the year.
