i think the bototm line is nobody wants their kids hanging out with poor people. most people want the richer people –of any color. But not poor people. My wife disagrees. She says there can be all kinds of problems regardless of income level. Yeah, well, play the odds. Percentage-wife, things are going to be a bit crazier andout of control int he poorer area. Things are likely to run smoother where the money is. I’ve always hated living in poorer areas.
Drink Heavily.
December 27, 2007 at 4:32 PM #125152BoratParticipantWhy is it racism when someone says they don’t want people coming illegally from Mexico? Mexico has a very diverse racial makeup. I just checked over at wikipedia, and caucasians are actually 30-35% of the population. Even most mestizos are predominantly european in origin (same source). Mexico’s Amerindian population is only about 12%. So this whole “racism” thing doesn’t make any sense at all. In fact it’s weird that they have radio stations and civic groups called “La Raza” cause there’s definitely no such thing as a Mexican “race”. They’re a lot like the US, a melting pot of many different peoples. Just the other day a Mexican guy asked me if I had seen his buddies which he referred to as “a bunch of Mexicans and a caucasian”. The dude was as caucasian as I am! And so were his buddies. They had dark hair and eyes but they could have been from any number of European countries.
Also, is it racist that all of the people you see on Univision and Telemundo are probably 99% Spanish Europeans?
Okay, that’s enough on that topic. It’s just weird to me that’s all.

December 27, 2007 at 9:41 PM #125360AnonymousGuestOMG, so much flame out of my single statement.
Marion, by the time kids get to the middle school, they are sufficiently different. They are influenced by their upbringing and some kinds of influence are better than others. As much as I respect illegal aliens’ willingness to work dead-end jobs for less than minimum wage to support their families, I don’t see them as good influence on their children.
Ok. Esmith, one thing I’ll say in response to what you have posted above is it’s not the kids fault. OK? Mom and Dad may be illegal aliens, but that doesn’t mean the kid is someone that would be a bad influence on your child. The kid cannot help who mom and dad is and deserves a chance to be befriended for who he/she is as a person.
I have nothing against you or anyone wanted the best schools for your kids. I want the same. But, I will say all things being equal, I’m not going to send my kids to schools that have 99% blonde-eyed, blue-eyed kids running around because a culturally diverse environment is best for all kids. You don’t want to raise snobs, or kids who cannot identify with other children of different ethnicities.
But, it sounds like you are saying that you don’t want your kids raised in the slums and you want good schools for them in a safe environment. I understand and agree with that.
