July 3, 2009 at 3:24 PM #425026SD RealtorParticipantjf – I voted for Bush. Looking back I probably would have done it again given the alternative. The one thing about Bush is that I knew what I was getting. I would rather know the poison then not know it. I don’t think he was terribly intelligent but I do believe he truly did believe in capitalism and I think he did believe in the fact that there are nations that want to see western ideals wiped off the map.
I am much more fearful of our current president for many reasons. Moreover what scares me the most is the love affair the media has. My brother said it was just like this when Lyndon Johnson was in office but I was to young back then. He seems to not be worried as much. My entire family LOVES the new administration while my wife and I are characterized as the fearmongering crazy right wingers. In reality we are simply liberals who want to see a reduction in the size of government.
Looking back, your statements are correct, I dont think Bush is laughable compared to now. Maybe in a sort of Gilligan sort of way but what is going on scares me a hell of alot more then Bush ever did not because of how smart Obama is, but because of how he has captured society by his cult of personality. It is like one of those dreams where I keep trying to wake up and cannot.
