If you can find out who built it, the original engineer might have it on file.

We were lucky – we were able to get the original grading/survey/soils reports from the City of San Diego before hiring the civil engineer, geotechnical, and surveyor for our granny flat project… it was a good starting point.
(It was also a relief to find out we had “good dirt” for handling an earthquake – Scripps formation.)
