Participantphone: purchase ooma for $200. ooma premier service with caller ID for $10/month.
DSL: AT&T at $40/month. no additional taxes or fees.
OTA: antenna brings in local channels. use HULU and other internet sites if there’s a cable show we want to watch.

ParticipantDump all pay-TV providers.
Get unlimited streaming movies from Netflix for $9 per month with a $200 Blu-ray player that has wifi included. Beware: you want wifi included, not just wifi enabled.
Get phone service for $4 per month with unlimited calling in the US with a $240 Ooma box (look for reviews on Amazon).
Get all major networks for free in high-def with an over-the-air receiver (under $200).
All this works simultaneously on Time Warner’s slowest cable modem service that costs $33 per month I think. Don’t bother with ATT DSL. Their customer service is even worse than Time Warner’s. Moreover, many houses are too far from the central station to get good DSL, but ATT does not have maps that let them know this in advance–total incompetence.

ParticipantI cut my cable. I have netflix, hulu, and an antenna for local TV with superior HDTV quality. I only want two cable channels (ESPN and GolfChannel) why should I have to pay for 60?
