Meadandale,
That is a very good suggestion, if luvsusan wants to be centrally located,as it seems. San Carlos might ggod too. She could look at condos or the smaller houses whch are mixed in with larger homes on either side of Golfcrest and around Lake Murray, for instance.
I have friends who live there who are quite happy with the opportunities available for their young daughter, this is considering that the mother is an elementary school teacher.November 10, 2008 at 8:40 AM #302524NotCrankyParticipantMeadandale,

Also do you know what part of town you would be working in? That will also have some bearing on the choice. Again, my primary advice would be to rent, but with the kids in school hopefully you could rent in at least potential areas where you would want to live. Possible rental areas are the places that rus and meandale mentioned, even somewhere like tierra santa, and other spots. Clairemont is spotty with okay areas and not so okay areas but overall the schools in Clairemont, (SDUSD) are nothing to shout about. University City is a better choice then Clairemont (for renting) at least but again, may not be in the budget.
Is there any chance you can rent?

November 10, 2008 at 6:21 PM #302408luvsanParticipantSD, and the rest of you, my lease here isn’t up until 7 more months. What are the chances of me finding a brand new house in the 200-300k area in the next year or next couple of years in a decent area in San Diego?
I would prefer something new where I won’t have to replace carpets and what not. Is new construction possible in the price range I’m looking in?
