OT:Syria 50 cruise missles-start of world war 3?

I thought cruise missiles packed a punch, does it really take 50-60 of them at $1.59 Million dollars a piece to accomplish base destruction? I hope the Russians left the area beforehand since they were warned. Should have just launched a couple at Assad as I’m sure they know where he is.

Maybe the idea was to destroy the chemical weapons vs releasing them or leaving them intact. No idea if it actually works that way, though.

Still, wonder how many people we killed because 100 people died.

IMO we have no biz in the middle east we need to get the heck out and stay out ASAP.

Russia will never let the Rebels control Syria because of the simple fact that there are too many Russian’s living in Syria.

The sooner we recognize that and let Russia handle it the better off we well be.

There is a line in the sand but it does “NOT” run through Syria.

I hope I’m wrong, but the cynic in me thinks he’s an old man that still thinks like back in the day and he can just walk in and slap ‘these people’ around and everybody will fall in line.

That was one road not taken. But since we’re down the chosen road there’s no turning back.
I blame the hawks it the Obama administration, and the hawks in American society in general.

Being non-interventionist and trying to work through diplomacy and commercial ties is a liability in American political life. It’s the cowboy American character. Foreigners describe it all the time, but we’re so dumb and oblivious.

When we invaded Iraq, we created the prospect of the Shia crescent. A huge gift to Iran and Russia. It’s going to cost us a few more trillion dollars. And while we are bogged down in military quagmire, China will continue to build business ties. Look at China’s GDP growth since joining WTO, right around the time Bush was thinking of invading Iraq.

He didn’t change his mind at all. He still believes Obama, Hillary, Democrats and anyone that doesn’t fall in line are his “enemies”; that they are wrong/evil/incompetent and everything he has done or will do is success.

He has no real positions on foreign policy, especially mideast policy. It’s simply tough rhetoric that is consistently inconsistent in meaning. Non-intervention, nuke the middle east, America first, secret plan to destroy ISIS – it’s all self-contradicting nonsense. There’s no mind to change.

In the world of Trump, it’s not about ideas or policies or action, or even reality. It’s about people and perception. It’s all about him.

That has not changed.

Just saw some video footage of the hangers and they looked pretty darn thick (i.e. fortified 3 feet of concrete?). Heard 23 of the missiles made it to target wonder what happened to the other 36 missiles? Did Russia shoot them down? I could see 1 not making it to target but not 36 of them.

This is the real story. 59 cruise missiles traveled how far and made it to their targets without any resistance. Radar, ‘iron dome’, etc. Doesn’t make Russia look very on it. Hmm. Indeed sticky now. Russia is in a pickle. Let’s see how many more tests N. Korea does now. My bet is Trump will be tested again soon. Unfortunate.

Yes obviously a show of air superiority and strength. But how many missiles do those ships have? Can we just keep firing away? Russia now has a ship in the area, possibly for air defense. I would not fire off more than half of the missiles just in case they are needed down the road. I can see this happening also in North Korea. What we need is a smart air defense system for our country and our troops.
