OT-I stand corrected about Norv Turner

For the past three years I have said some horrible things about the Chargers coach, Norv Turner. Not long ago I had an opportunity to meet him in person away from the game and I found somehwere else to be because I am an arrogant bastard and it was a silent protest.

A few minutes ago I was conducting my weekly ritual of reading Bill Simmons’ articles on ESPN and for some reason I clicked on an article about Norv that was listed next to Simmons articles on the main page.

The facts are all true, and when put in the context and with the details that the author included, I was taken aback, I was humbled and I was ashamed of the things I have said and written over the years about a man I knew little about and understood even less.

Even if you aren’t a football fan, I encourage you to read it, soon the playoffs will begin and it will help you look good at parties if you live in San Diego. I will watch every Charger game as usual, but this time I will be rooting for Norv and win or lose, I vow to not knock the guy in a public forum again. Mea Culpa

TG: Good article about a good guy. Being a Raiders fan, I was quick to jump on the anti-Norv bandwagon, but I think we’ve all seen what’s he done with the Bolts. Yeah, they start slow, but they have consistently finished hot and, if I’m the Colts, this is the last team I want to meet in the playoffs.

I’ve thought this is the most dangerous team in the AFC for about the last couple of months and you have to give credit to Norv and Ron Rivera (another coach I bagged on, but now have respect for due to the job he’s done with the D).

I’m pulling for the Chargers this post-season, especially if Dallas stays hot and they meet in the Superbowl. I’d love to see “Mr. Nasty” (Philip Rivers) throw down on Romo and kick some Cowboy ass.
