Young lady to young man, show me your career and I’ll show you my mine, (see double entendre)
I may have lost my funny bone, but you have some issues with women.
LOL! Of course I do! I used to have more.
Not sure if you have a daughter – that always seems to soften men up who have woman issues.
The pain in my own soul is enough to keep me trying for improvement.

All men or just certain men? Like, what if you had a chance to hang out with Scott Peters vs. Miranda Kerr (my son considers her synonymous with “perfect”). And you seem to have married a woman . . . right?
average woman v. Average man. However men don’t like me. Too weird. Women like me. I might be more like a woman

Quit saying football is stupid and questioning the military and men will love you.
I just learned to shut-up and pretend their cars are awesome. I like my new found popularity.October 23, 2014 at 2:12 AM #779285CA renterParticipant

Little girl to little boy, show me yours and I’ll show you mine.

It sure does! I wish every man could have at least one daughter (though I’ve known some men who totally ignore their daughters and **clearly** favor their sons, which always makes me extremely sad…and angry). The world would probably be a whole lot nicer if men had daughters to love.
I believe both Russ (Blogstar) and scaredy have all sons. We have all daughters. Probably explains a lot about our perspectives regarding these men vs. women issues.

the military is not always stupid but being too obsequious to the military under all circumstances is stupid.
and cars arestupid.
golf is stupid.
pretty much everything normal guys talk about is stupid.
still, womensconversation s are worse. i like talking about how dumbwe all are.
im not that crazy about intellectual academic discussions either.
people often get uncomfortable talking to me as i say things that maybe are out of bounds for normal conversation.
i like talking to my kids about anything.
other people’s kids are often dull though.
I read a semi-interesting article about how on the whole, young people would agree with you. Golf is waning in popularity, especially with the younger set. Too time consuming for dads who are too involved with their kid’s lives to disappear for four hours on a weekend, too elitist for the middle class. There may be a bit of waning “Tiger effect” and return to the median.

Welcome to the machine. I hate cigar smoking.October 23, 2014 at 1:32 PM #779313njtosdParticipant
the mere thought of having a daughter fills me with fear.
That’s interesting. Fear of what? My husband discovered that many of the things that he thought were learned behaviors in girls actually are there from the outset, so he has become more understanding of us. Same for me in terms of my son. It’s a great education.October 23, 2014 at 2:08 PM #779317scaredyclassicParticipantScared of having a crazy girl I’m responsible for. She could be…nuts. my boys listen. We get each other. I’m not sure my wife or I are qualified to communicate with a teenaged girl.
October 23, 2014 at 3:28 PM #779320FlyerInHiGuestI prefer independently wealthy over a successful career.
I’d rather people didn’t talk about their jobs. Pretty dull actually. There are so many other interesting topics to discuss.
I have a successful male friend who never talks about his job. I’ve learned to admire and appreciate that. It’s hard for men not to relate everything to their jobs.
Women who talk about their jobs are irritating.

At this point in my life I find work is a nice safe topic to chat with male strangers about. The weather is even more dull, most extended discussions about sports bore me, and a lot of men aren’t very good at talking about their kids. Politics is a ticking time bomb; I’d rather not know what stupid political views a person holds.
I certainly admire people that have interesting things to talk about besides work. Movies and television are fairly safe, although “I haven’t caught up on that yet!” is a fairly common refrain these days.
October 23, 2014 at 8:46 PM #779350FlyerInHiGuestI suppose it’s all about how one talks about one’s job.
I have a good friend who’s a post doc in the life sciences. We talk about general health issues, but never about specifics and office dynamics.
Some people are like mini Trumps all the time. Or some people complain about their jobs. That’s annoying.
A broad minded person talks about all kinds of topics, not like a tradesman focused on his trade.
The problem with a lot of successful people in career/business is that they only think business. Maybe that’s how they made their money. I wouldn’t want to marry someone like that.
