If you call having the Demoncraps in power and constantly taking our constitutional rights away good then I have a bridge to sell you at a discount.
August 21, 2016 at 11:56 AM #800774FlyerInHiGuestIt’s the same in Nevada.
NV and AZ are turning blue thanks to Latinos. Si se puede!

Extreme policing is the biggest threat to constitutional rights. That’s a Republican gift. Sure democrats went along for fear of being weak on crime.

What right did you have 8 years ago that you don’t have now?

The right to not provide health insurance.
The right to discriminate against gays, etc….August 23, 2016 at 10:03 AM #800812AnonymousGuest

If you call having the Demoncraps in power and constantly taking our constitutional rights away good then I have a bridge to sell you at a discount.
I’d say there has been an erosion of 4th Amendment rights with the NSA wiretapping, etc. But the blame for that falls on both major parties.
Phrases like “Demoncraps in power and constantly taking our constitutional rights away” just expose who’s got all their radio presets tuned to conservative talk radio.

The right to not provide health insurance.
The right to discriminate against gays, etc….
I’m quite sure neither of those rights appear anywhere in the constitution.

Agreed. Though I’m pretty sure the loss of those 4th amendment rights predates 8 years ago. Whether there has been further erosion is speculative. It’s possible.

And once a law is in place, those rights are likely gone for good. Most of the time, new laws provide some societal benefit. But there’s a lot that goes along – and a lot of unintended consequences.
August 23, 2016 at 11:19 AM #800817spdrunParticipantThen again, we’ve had executive and judicial action increase rights recently:
(1) Right to marry whom you want to in all states. I’m not gay, but many of the arguments used against gay marriage were the same as were used against interracial marriage (a strongly personal issue for me) 50 years ago.
(2) Recent DoJ action to restrict state and local governments from excessive bail, based on income. They’re finally taking the Constitutional prohibition of excessive bail literally.
(3) The trend of restricting civil forfeiture by states.
(4) The gradual emptying of Guantanamo — holding people in limbo without trial is generally a bad thing.
(5) The end of stop and frisk, and the censuring of city police departments (Baltimore) by Federal courts.August 23, 2016 at 11:55 AM #800818scaredyclassicParticipantthe fight for your right to party.
legal weed sweeping the usa. thats pretty big, really. the beginning of the end of the drug war.thanks, obama.

hillary clinton will probably legalize mushrooms first.
August 23, 2016 at 12:06 PM #800820spdrunParticipantAgreed. I’m less concerned about the “right” to use drugs, more about the War on Some Drugs being used as an excuse to violate OTHER rights.
